What is an LDPE Sheet?
LDPE sheets are plastic sheets made from low-density polyethylene material. They act as a moisture barrier between the ground and the concrete surface, preventing dampness, water seepage, and loss of cement slurry into the soil.

Why LDPE Sheet is Important in Flooring:

1. Moisture Protection: Prevents capillary rise of moisture from the soil.

LDPE Sheet Laying Procedure:

1. Surface Preparation:

   • Clean the sub-base thoroughly and make sure it is level and compacted properly.

   • Spread the LDPE sheet (usually 200 microns or thicker) evenly across the entire area.

   • Overlap adjacent sheets by at least 150 mm (6 inches).

   • Seal the joints with adhesive tape to avoid leakage or movement during concreting.

3. Final Checks:

   • Ensure the sheet is wrinkle-free and fully covers the floor area.

   • Avoid walking on the sheet with sharp objects or heavy tools.

4. Proceed with Concrete Work:

   • Once the sheet is laid properly, reinforcement can be placed, and concrete pouring can begin.
